What a year it has been and promises to be

Lots of things have changed over the last year. Not even a year ago Daniel and I were talking about getting engaged. It has been a month now since we were married. Things are going great minus the fact that twice in the last month I have had a summer cold. Yuck. I went to Lonoke the other day to take care of paperwork and got more than I bargained for. I found out that they didn't rehire for the Spanish position for the teacher that left so therefore I am teaching all three levels of Spanish. If that is not enough, I am teaching an extra class and getting no prep. My principal tried to console me with the fact I would get paid extra for that class. I am just not sure my sanity is worth a little more money. So it is that I will be teaching 3 levels of Spanish, doing Spanish club, teaching 7 classes a day with no prep...it promises to be an intense year. After freaking out about my workload, I decided to head to Lonoke to work on my computer for a few hours and get the ball rolling with all these classes I have to teach. I get to Lonoke only to discover my computer is not a happy camper. I get the blue screen of death a few times and then notify the tech guys. I head to the main building to try to catch the principal so I can voice some of my concerns about the new teaching scenario, but he is no where to be found. I decide to see what work I could get done on my network drive, but my password doesn't work so I have to bug the tech guys again to reset it. Finally, I get in but there is nothing on my network. Don't know where it magically disappeared to, but I am hoping that when I return to Lonoke some time in the coming weeks that the technology disaster of Tuesday are resolved and I can magically find everything that has disappeared. The rest of the week has been spent trying to get things organized and now I have a stupid fever and head cold. It has been one of those weeks. I even got bit by a neighbor's dog. One of those weeks I will be glad to have in the past. Think I will work on my wedding photo book.

Creating a Blog, the Wedding and the Cruise

I figured I would jump on the bandwagon and create a blog. This is probably the last thing I should be doing with the huge pile of thank you notes looming. I should probably invest my time there, but the computer seems to hold a little more fascination at the moment. I don't guess I really have much to say and nobody will even read this to tell you the truth but why not, right?

Daniel and I have been married for all of 11 days now. We had a beautiful wedding with lots of family and friends. It was more than either one of us could have asked for, and we are very appreciative of all our families did. It is funny because we spent so much time just planning for that day and most of it is a blur. We haven't gotten the pics from the photographer yet, but I am looking forward to seeing them.

Our cruise to Mexico was fantastic! We spent Saturday night of the wedding in NLR and were awaken just before midnight to fireworks at the Travs game. We got up early Sunday and drove to Mobile and spent Sunday night at the Radisson in downtown Mobile. It was fantastic. The Admiral Semmes is old hotel that has been elaborately remolded to preserve the marble staircase, gorgeous chandelier and rotunda, and original lobby decor. We got up Monday and enjoyed a nice breakfast at Oliver's and went back to our room to finish repacking. At 11:00, we caught the shuttle to the cruise port and were dropped off at the main entrance to the port. It only took about 30 minutes to get through the paperwork and lines, and we were allowed to board the Elation. After boarding the ship, we found the Lido Deck and enjoyed a buffet lunch. We explored awhile and then our room was ready. We spent most of the week enjoying the ship and the wonderful food. On Wednesday we arrived in Cozumel. The morning was spent shopping and in the afternoon we took the AquaTwister boat to Passion Island for an afternoon of relaxation and good food. We came back in time to get back on board. It was amazing minus the horrible sunburn we both got despite all the sunscreen. On Thursday we arrived in Calica, Mexico and took the tour bus to Chichen Itza. We saw lots of Mayan Communities and handicrafts. Chichen Itza was a great experience although we were only there 2 hours and then back to the ship after lunch. I got lots of great pics. We didn't get back to the ship until almost 4:45 with the ship closing the doors behind us. We came back towards Mobile on Friday and on Saturday we arrived in port and drove home. Since then we are adjusting to the real world again and dealing with all the fun of changing my name and all the paperwork that accompanies it.
